Week 17: travels, names and anatomy

Hello and goodbye to week 17. Here is what mom and baby were up to this week:

Visited the Broadmoor Hotel and Seven Falls in Colorado Springs for a business trip. Life is hard.

Baby grew to almost 6 inches and about the size of a sweet potato

Or the man sizing chart according to myboyscanswim.com the baby is the size of a hockey puck.

Decided on a new girl's name that I adore (it is growing on Owen):
Visited our OBGYN for a check-up. The heartbeat was 160 beats per minute which sometimes can indicate a girl!

I took the blood tests to determine if baby has any diseases that we should know about before birth. Those results come back in 10 days.

We got our official date for the anatomy ultrasound where we should find out if it is a boy or a girl - October 8.

Week 16: somersaults, facial expressions and adorable toes!

Week 16 - It went by fast so the blog update will too!

Baby size: Five and a half inches tall and only six ounces in weight.

Baby's accomplishments this week:
1. Grasp with their hands, kick and somersault. Evidently, I should be able to feel the baby kick between 16-22 weeks.

2. Grew finger and toenails. Can't wait to see baby's adorable toes!

3. Have enough calcium in their bones to show up on an X-ray.

 4. Heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood.

5. Baby can make facial expressions, such as squinting, yawning and grimacing: I found this cute picture of little Henry that is doing all 3 expressions at once!

Update on mommy:
1. Still have a slight meat aversion although it is mostly limited to red meat now. Baby may be a vegetarian!

2. I feel great!

Week 15: Baby avocado, bump's arrival, & the latest developments

Week 15? Check! Here are the highlights:

Baby is about 4 inches long, 2.5 ounces and is the size of an avocado.

Although, I wonder which kind of avocado...

Another big development? I started to show for the first time. So, of course I scoured the Internet looking for other almost-16 week-preggo's bellies to make sure I was on target. This is by far Owen's favorite part so far - I have a feeling him and my belly are going to get really close over the next 5 months!

So, what did me and the baby do this week:

Made fingerprints.

Grew eyebrows and lashes. These images look like they should go on the eye kande blog instead - maybe I'll find a reason to recycle and use them again.

Learned how to hiccup.

And my favorite new trick? Baby started hearing! Which made it the perfect occassion to go watch my dad's band play at the Krustie Krab Marina in Lubbock this weekend.
